Melissa Nelson’s Performance Crop Research (PCR) is located in Great Bend, Kansas. She is an independent crop research facility with access to 3,000 acres in Central Kansas. Melissa has both dryland and irrigated capabilities as well as a small indoor greenhouse. Melisa grow industrial hemp (CBD & Fiber/Grain), corn, sorghum, winter wheat, rye, teff grass and soybeans. She has experience in camelina, canola, vegetables and sugar beets as well. The land is primarily sand, sandy loam and clay.

Melissa has experience in efficacy, GLP Residue and GMO work. She is proficient in the ARM program and have been working in field research for the past ten years. PCR is equipped with a 6' Kincaid/Great Plains Plot Drill, 2022 Almaco 4-row vacuum planter with infurrow and seed treatment capabilities and 2021 Almaco RX small plot combine as well as a 16-row Case IH Early Rise Planter and Case IH 9120 Combine. I also have experience in soil dissipation trials and am equipped with a 48-inch hydraulic probe.

Melissa is also co-owner of South Bend Industrial Hemp and South Bend Industrial Hemp Processing. South Bend focuses on helping grow the hemp industry in Kansas. South Bend also grows dual purpose varieties and is working towards developing the grain and fiber industry. The first decortication facility in the Midwest.

Melissa has Masters Degree in Agriculture from Colorado State University.
